New practical course for HEST MSc students successfully launched

In spring 2015, the laboratory course “Practical Methods in Tissue Engineering” (376-1622-00L) premiered at the Department of Health Science and Technology (D-HEST).

Taught by Dr. Karin Wuertz-Kozak and Prof. Dr. Marcy Zenobi-Wong from the Institute for Biomechanics, this new course enables HEST MSc students to gain the necessary skills for doing research in the fields of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. The course includes exercises related to sterile cell culture, light microscopy and histology, cell viability and gene expression analysis. Furthermore, students are able to produce and experimentally use various types of biomaterials, such as hydrogels and electrospun membranes.

In the future, the course will be offered twice per year to 12 selected students per semester. To gain an impression of the course, please watch the video.
